About Fox Bullets
Background
Fox Classic Hunter bullets have been produced by a family business in Slovenia for over 10 years. As a European company, Fox have first hand experience of roe, fallow and red deer, the most commonly hunted deer species in the UK. Fox have therefore developed bullets specifically designed for European deer, rather than American deer that typically have thicker hides and are bigger bodied.
Both Tom and Harry from The Deercast have been exclusively using Fox Bullets on red, fallow, roe, muntjac and Chinese water deer since 2022 and have never looked back. Fox Bullets have also been used by Forestry England as their preferred lead free bullet.
Technical details
Fox Classic Hunter bullets are lead free and are made from a copper-zinc alloy (CuZn10). Copper-zinc alloy bullets offer several advantages over solid copper bullets; firstly, the alloy is harder and stronger than pure copper. This increased hardness helps the bullet better retain its shape during firing and at high velocities, leading to improved consistency and better accuracy. Secondly, the hardness of the alloy reduces friction and barrel fouling.
Cut into the shank of each bullet are grooves designed to reduce the contact surface between the bullet and the rifle barrel, reducing pressure and increasing speed.
Expansion is key to success with any rifle bullet. Unlike many other lead free alternatives, Fox Classic Hunter bullets are constructed using materials that are designed to expand. The degree of deformation is determined by the depth of the hole at the top of the bullet (the meplat). At the tip of the Fox Classic Hunter bullet is a black thermo-stable plastic tip that increases ballistic performance.
