Fox Classic Hunter vs Norma EcoStrike

Norma's EcoStrike is a lead free, polymer-tipped hunting bullet from a Swedish manufacturer better known to most British stalkers for its brass and its factory ammunition. Like the Fox Classic Hunter it is aimed squarely at European hunters making the move away from lead.

Shared design language

The two bullets have more in common than not. Both are lead free monolithics. Both use a polymer tip to sharpen the profile and initiate expansion. Both are designed by European makers with European quarry in mind. If you are choosing between them you are not choosing between philosophies.

Where Fox makes its case

The alloy. CuZn10 at roughly 10 per cent zinc is harder than pure copper and harder than the typical 95/5 gilding metals, which is the basis of the reduced-fouling and dimensional-stability arguments.
Meplat-controlled expansion. The depth of the tip cavity sets how far the bullet opens, making expansion a design variable rather than a consequence of how soft the metal is.
Driving bands. Grooves in the shank cut the bearing surface, reducing friction and pressure for a given charge.

How to actually decide

Compare the weights available in your specific diameter, then test. Two well-made monolithics will both shoot well in a rifle that suits them and both may disappoint in one that does not — twist rate and seating depth matter more here than the badge on the box. Twist rate for lead free bullets is the first thing to check.
