The .270 Winchester has been a British deer stalking staple for generations. It fires a .277 inch bullet, and Fox makes two Classic Hunter weights at that diameter: 130 and 145 grain.

The 130 grain is the weight the .270 is famous for and the natural substitution if you have been shooting 130gr lead. It is proven on red and fallow and shoots flat.
The 145 grain trades a little velocity for a better ballistic coefficient and deeper penetration — the choice for mature red stags, big fallow bucks and sika.
Why the .270 is easy to convert
