Lead free bullets for the 6.5 PRC

The 6.5 PRC is the high-velocity end of the 6.5mm family — more case, more powder and appreciably more speed than a 6.5 Creedmoor from the same .264 inch bullet. It is a long-range cartridge, and that shapes the bullet choice.

The 139 grain is the natural pairing

If you have chosen a cartridge designed to shoot flat at distance, pair it with the bullet designed to hold velocity at distance. The 139 grain carries a 0.425 G1 ballistic coefficient, the highest in the Fox range, and the PRC's velocity gives it every chance to make use of it.

The 123 grain works perfectly well and will shoot flatter still; but a fast cartridge with a lower-BC bullet gives away at distance what it gained at the muzzle.

Twist rate and case capacity

6.5 PRC rifles are typically 1:8, ample for the 139 grain. Case capacity is generous, so a long monolithic intrudes proportionally less than it would in a Creedmoor — though the PRC's magazine constraints still deserve checking.
